This comment may clear up some questions.  A recent (April 2015) CNC Zone Forum review of Laser Depot USA:

“I am very sorry for your experience, I am only in a fraction of the trouble you went through, but John Kasper is at it again, his new alias is Laser-depot-usa.com and he pretty much did the same thing to me.
He agreed to provide a product at a price and a delivery date, then didn’t respond once I became concerned, then didn’t respond until I filed a paypal dispute, of course he talked his way out of refunding me, only to find that he was just shining me on to relinquish the paypal hold, I deeply regret closing the dispute. Of course he didn’t make delivery date he promised, just some stories, now he refuses to refund my money.

So those that find this forum, can note that John Kasper has relocated, obviously something you only do when you are trying to shed a bad reputation, otherwise if you really had great customer service, you wouldn’t want to change your name and brand over and over. hopefully my long standing relationship with my credit card provider can save my money.”

So again, Buyers Beware.

John Kasper is now at Laser Depot USA, aka laserdepotusa.com

I guess its unfortunate that he touts american service, but really isn’t doing it justice. what happened to holding up to your word, offering and meeting that agreement, and just don’t make promises you can’t keep.

I have a chain of emails, not really going to post them unless they are requested. Just know that he is a talker, but once you pay, its just a gamble I won’t make again.

Those that were curious, it was a purchase of a PURI PRH-1800 160W laser Tube with a set of Meller Optics, had talked me into a great sounding deal, $1500 out the door, but I guess it was too good to be true.

  • Forums show owner speaking out…all pretty entertaining but Kaspar is a stand up guy. He used to work for Full Spectrum and he had ‘differing opinions on business practices’ so he went out on his own.

  • The original suit is done. Now Hurricane/World Lasers/owners are all defending another suit again with FSL. They’re pushing to get them out of business for good.

  • All I know is that the price of hurricanes machines have been fluctuating over the last month or so. That leads me to believe someone is at least doing their website? On the other hand I’ve been calling approximately six or seven times a day and it goes to voice mail. Maybe others are having better luck than I am. I’m trying my best to keep positive about this. They were very helpful and I felt confident with them before I made my final payment. After that the communications dropped off substantially. I have since done more research about this company and it has not made me feel better.

  • Did a review on Vip Lasers and found…

“Here is incontrovertible public evidence based on searches that the Kaspars are indeed behind VIP LASERS

    VIP Lasers Reviews

    • We bought a laser From Harricane laser just before they went down. Is there anybody that do service on them. As I am stuck with a laser cutter and the driver is not communication with the laser. Please HELP. Tried VIP already no reply?

    • Any kind of Laser Depot USA review shows there’s no physical address to this company. I called
but nobody answered. Even if it’s not the same owner as Hurricane I’d be
leery as there’s nothing about this company – no reviews. It is a new start up.

  • Can yo reccomend where I can get a laser control card replaced? It was originally purchased from Hurricane. Manufacturer of card is “Leetro”?

  • I purchased a machine from John while he ran Hurricane and never had a problem, neither with John nor the machine. That was 5 years ago. I just purchased another laser from him, now with VIP and again the service and product has been great.

From what I understand, the reason why Hurricane closed had to do with issues related to bad blood (i.e., legal) between FSL and Hurricane.

Just 1 person’s experience for what it’s worth.

  • The FBI currently has an open case and is investigating both john and traci kaspar, who are the owners of laser-depot-usa.com and former owners of several fraudulent companies in multiple states.

  • I PURCHASED A LASER FROM LASER DEPOT USA – FROM JOHN KASPER NOV 6 2015 FOR 7700.00 I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY LASER AND HE HAS REFUSED TO REFUND MY MONEY, THIS MAN IS A CON ARTIST AND HAS SCAMMED OTHERS AND BEEN SUED BY FULL SPECTRUM LASERS FOR STEALING THEIR TRADE SECRETS – LAW SUIT IS PUBLIC RECORDS.. I WOULD STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM LASER DEPOT AND JOHN KASPER AS POSSIBLE

  • @Leny
Its a roll of the dice. The overall consensus is still undeniable. That lawsuit against Hurricane apparently was deeper then Bad blood for sure. Hurricane owners (now w/ laser depot usa) lost due a lot of ‘activity’. When I was looking at their machines I read reviews from clients and via a forum discovered the FS/Hurricane civil/criminal court docket online. In the end FS won several judgments – over $2 million.

For reasons above I’d say there’s safer options out there.

  • [please confirm] The FBI currently has an open case and is investigating both John Anthony Kaspar and Traci Lene/Reynolds Kaspar. Both are the joint owners of laser-depot-usa.com and former owners of several fraudulent companies in multiple states. *UPDATE* The Newest Company westcoastlasersystems.com

  • Do not buy from this guy. No return phone calls. No support as calls go straight to voicemail. He is a FRAUD! Currently an “F” rating from BBB too.

  • John Kaspar ripped many of us off as the owner of Hurricane lasers. I paid him for a laser that he kept delaying and never delivered. He called it the storm laser and said it was being customized for him. In reality it was a standard product from GWICKE Laser. He directly lied to me on multiple occasions about the status of my order and then evaded me using his employees until he shut down the business. I never recovered the money as FSL had won a judgement from John and he shut down the business. If you are interested in that look up the lawsuit. I wish I had seen it before I bought from him and I wish FSL had told me about the lawsuit as they knew I was considering both their lasers and Johns laser at the time. It is pucblic info in the Las Vegas courts. After all of it I got a string of letters from lawyers explaining that John was filing bankruptcy. Before I knew it I heard he was back in the industry. I Write this only to protect other makers like me who have limited time and money and cannot afford to wait 6 months (without being able to make) for and loose thousands to those who cannot live up to their word. Glad to see the note about the possible FBI investigation above. I wish the FBI and Las Vegas law enforcement would have had an interest in helping years ago. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
